Thoughts and Quotes for the New Year

Thoughts and Quotes for the New YearWow, this year has completely flown by, and 2012 is on the horizon! Eric and I will both on vacation until Jan. 2, so we’re planning a relaxing holiday week. On Christmas Eve we’ll head up to the Jewel of the Forest (my hometown) to visit with all of my cousins (the Wilson clan) and my Aunt Beverly.  It’ll be the first Christmas without my Uncle J.M., so the celebration will be a little sad, I imagine, as well.  The firsts without a loved one are always hard. Your 7-Step Year-End Social Media Audit

Your 7 Step Year End Social Media AuditSocial media has been all the rage this year, so it’s probably time for you to do a social media audit.  This audit will help you determine if you’re using the correct social media platforms to reach out to the right people in the right way.

Here’s my 7-step method for doing a year-end social media audit:

1.  Plan/Strategy:  What do you hope to gain by using social media?  More clients?  More sales?  More JV/affiliate partners?  Having clear goals in mind helps you better plan your social media marketing strategy for the upcoming year.  What techniques worked?  What failed miserably?  What would you change for the future?  Which social media site worked best for you? How did your social media presence grow?  Which site sent you the most traffic?  How about sales?  Which site gave you the most engagement?

Friday Finds: Need Graphics?

I’ve got 3 great finds for you this week:

1. Marketing Graphics Toolkit 4

Max has done it again with Marketing Graphics Toolkit 4! I just downloaded 330+ MB of graphics goodness that seems so over-indulgent, and yet it’s 100% guilt-free!

In this package that you can use with or without Photoshop, you’ll get 30 modules of premium graphic content. I’m always going to one of the Marketing Graphics Toolkits that I’ve purchased for call to action buttons, premium headers, badges, graphic headlines, handwritten graphics, pricing tables, guarantee boxes, testimonial boxes…you get the idea. I find these invaluable, and he’s gone over the top with this batch!

Rank Checker

Rank CheckerOne problem that I have with most statistics programs is that they either overload you with info or don’t provide the info that you need.  This past week I discovered a very handy WordPress plugin that tells you that you got traffic for a particular keyword as well as how you ranked for that keyword in Google.

Rank Checker lets you build links for words that actually bring you traffic, helps you rank your pages for words for which there are actual searches, and helps you discover new content ideas without using any search tools.

Facebook Marketing Done Right!

Facebook Marketing Done Right! My friend and colleague, Amy Porterfield, is offering a no-charge Facebook webinar that is HOT!

I’ve arranged two times for you to choose from on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 2 PM Eastern (New York time) and 8 PM Eastern (New York time).

NOTE: This is a pre-recorded webinar (I don’t want you to think I’m trying to fool you into believing this is live – it’s not). It is only being presented for my audience at two times. I attended the webinar last week and Amy’s presentation is outstanding! Even though I’ve been using Facebook since 2009, I took two pages of notes and learned some new tactics for getting new fans and getting more interaction. This webinar made me a believer in Facebook again..;)

Your 10-Step Year-End Web Site Review

Your 10 Step Year End Web Site ReviewThe close of another year is upon us, and with that comes your year-end web site review. Wait, you are doing an annual review, right?

Failing to take a few minutes to review your web site at the end of the year can result in your visitors seeing something like “Copyright 2008″ on your site. I know that if I see something like that, it’s a signal to me that the site owner isn’t paying attention to her business, or makes me wonder if she’s still in business. That’s not the first impression you want new visitors to have of your business.

How I Won a Scholarship Using Fiverr, WordPress and Social Networking

How I Won a Scholarship Using Fiverr, Wordpress and Social NetworkingFiverr.com is one of the coolest sites that I’ve discovered in the last year.  You can find people offering a LARGE variety of services and tasks, each available for a payment of $5.  Of course, you do get what you pay for here, so some of the results aren’t worth the $5 you paid, while others are stellar and could have been sold for 10-15 times the price you paid.

SEOQuake

I do a great deal of SEO research for myself and my clients, like determining how many backlinks a site has, what pagerank the site holds, for what keywords the site is optimized, who owns a site, how old a site is, etc. I have been using a variety of tools to assess this info until I found a free one that tells me just about everything I need to know.
