Now that I’ve become a devout WordPress fan after years of being a naysayer, I’m trying to quickly get up-to-speed about strategies and tactics I can use the make my WordPress blogs work hard for me to bring more traffic to my sites. Some of the strategies I’ve learned about have to do with how I create posts, while others incorporate the use of specific plug-ins to help me better optimize my blog for traffic.

Just read an article in today's Houston Chronicle about Starbucks permitting patrons to pay for their purchases with their mobile phones. Mobile technology is here to stay, and I think this is only the beginning. Are you prepared to go mobile?

A: Hi Angie — Great question, as membership sites eat up much of your time! I'm going to speak to a fixed-term membership site, as that's what I think you're asking about. There are a number of ways to outsource the components of a fixed membership site.

1. Graphics and web site design — need someone experienced in graphic design and/or simple web site design. One person may be able to do both, or you may need to seek 2 people for this job. This person will also need to upload your content to your site.

The Best New Year Business Resolution is NO Resolution

I’m the world’s worst at New Year’s resolutions. My effort at making resolutions is best summed up by Mark Twain, “New Year’s Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.” As a business owner, however, I see the new year as ripe with opportunities, and it feels like a great time to begin anew. Consequently, I feel the ever-present tug to set resolutions for my business, at least.
