The blogging platform, WordPress, has proven itself to be a robust host for an online content management system (CMS), especially with the development of new WordPress themes and plugins. I was skeptical at first, as I was a devout user of Typepad and kept hearing of so many tech troubles that people were having with their WordPress blogs.

However, in the last year, WordPress has exploded as the primary web site design platform. I became convinced to switch all of my sites to WordPress when I saw so many developers creating fee-based themes and plugins for the platform. Now, WordPress can do almost everything except clean your house and cook you breakfast! The number of free themes and free plugins number in the thousands, and the number of fee-based ones are quickly rising to that number, as well.

New and Improved Ezine

The ones labeled [FF] are Friday Finds, come out on Fridays, and list one or two products I’ve purchased recommend that you check out, as well. On Tuesdays I publish the [BAT] issue, with is the Business Automation Tool, a cool free or low-cost tool that I think will help you in automating some process of your business.

I like to use email to send myself reminders about things. However, sometimes the process of setting up that email reminder takes a few more steps than I would ideally like. Recently I discovered a very cool tool that you can use to automatically send yourself email reminders about tasks.

FollowUpThen lets you easily schedule followup emails and clear out your inbox by forwarding emails to FollowUpThen. You can use BCC or TO to schedule a reminder for yourself only or CC to schedule a reminder for you and the recipient.

Graphics Galore

These are some inexpensive tools I’ve run across this week:

1. Atomic Graphics Pro

Graphics Galore OK, I admit it. I’m a sucker for graphics, probably because I can’t create attractive graphics no matter how hard I try — I’m definitely graphics-challenged!

This package had some unique options I hadn’t seen elsewhere, and for the price of $9.95, I couldn’t resist. I’ve used several of these already, in conjunction with my quick image editor, SnagIt 10. If all I have to do is insert text over an image, I’m good to go, and SnagIt lets me easily do that.
