WP-Optimize

When you create posts or pages or WordPress, the software automatically saves all the revisions of those pages and posts. As you might imagine, this can take up a great amount of space on your WordPress installation. If you combine that with all of the spam comments you might have on your site, you may have a very sluggish site.

WP-Optimize is a free plug-in available from WordPress that takes care of those issues, and more. It reports which database tables have overhead and wasted spaces as well as allows you to shrink and get rid of those wasted spaces.

Pimp Your Gmail

I’m wondering why I didn’t convert all of my email to Gmail a long time ago. I’ve now discovered that I can create multiple signature files as long as you set up Gmail to check multiple email addresses. You can associate a file with each address, as well as set Gmail to respond from that address.

And, I’ve discovered (thanks to Carol McClelland and Tracey Lawton) can you can create email templates with Google Lab’s Canned Responses feature.

Another downside I’ve discovered is that I don’t get emails quite as fast as I did before using Gmail, but I think the accessibility of my email on any computer will outweigh that issue.

I began working with a new client last week in my Automated Authority Marketing Program, and of course, I needed access to his various online services being managed by his virtual team. It’s been over a week, and I’m still gathering all the info that I need to be able to access his accounts, figure out what’s going on there, and begin to track some metrics. His web designer had been MIA for almost a month, and we were talking about taking legal action to retrieve his info so that he could access his web site. Yikes! Fortunately, it didn’t come to that, as she miraculously surfaced and said that she’d been dealing with personal issues and provided the info that we needed. IMHO, it’s a pretty poor practice to fail to let your clients know what’s going on, regardless of the issue.

Online reputation management is one of the biggest challenges facing businesses today. Have you ever been upset with the way you were treated at a business and immediately vented about it on a social website?
